So, remember that time when I broke my camera? Then I got a replacement (or three) that got stolen? Well, anyway, I’m back home now, and my D90 has been fixed up and sent back. So I jumped at the chance to head over to Catalina State Park with my uncle and get back to taking some pics.
Of course, as soon as I got there, I realize that I had forgotten to check my battery before heading out the door. Of course, I brought a dead battery. Luckily, my uncle had a spare camera with him and I was still able to take a few nice pics.
The desert wildflowers were absolutely stunning today. Feel free to take a look at the rest of the pics I grabbed today.
When I got home and charged my battery, I wanted to double-check to make sure my camera was working nicely. The stars were out in full force and I wanted to try some night sky photos using the “bulb” setting (basically, this leaves the shutter open as long as you hold down the button, allowing as much light in as you want). I’d never done this kind of photography before, but I thought the results were pretty interesting. Check the link, because the photo doesn’t really work when compressed down to blog size.
If you leave the shutter open long enough, you can see the earth’s rotation in the stars.
