Moments ago, the Mets fell to the Marlins 4-2 in the final game of the season. For the second straight season, the Mets end the season one game shy of the playoffs.
This game was so emblematic of the major issues this team has had all year (and especially in September). They got strong starting pitching from Perez, but not deep enough into the game. They couldn’t bring runs in key situations. The bullpen once again was mismanaged and awful.
This was the final game ever to be played at Shea stadium. Hopefully, the ghosts of the Mets past get demolished with it.
Well put. I hope that when Shea implodes, it takes the failure of this (and last) season with it. Maybe the team should dig a hole in the field and each bury an item from this season (ball, glove, broken bat, Aaron Heilman, etc).
