It was inevitable. The Mets now have three Reyeses (Reyi?) on their Major League roster in the organization.
They could pick up JoJo (the Braves’ starter from yesterday) and get a four of a kind.
Beyond the awful puns and silly coincidences (coincidi?), this is actually a decent signing. Low risk, as the Rays are paying most of the money, and potentially high reward. The Mets could use a bit of stability in that bullpen after learning today that Billy Wagner isn’t expected back any time soon.
los Tres Reyes. Isn’t that a holiday in puerto rico?
Should be a great signing. Not sure who goes down to make room. Maybe Not-so-mighty Joe Smith?
I’d rather see Cancel canceled. I’ve seen just about enough of him, and frankly, the Mets need an extra arm in the pen now more than they need a third catcher (that has actually been true all year long… I have no idea why they’ve carried three for so long).
Why the strike-through on the post? Did they make a move to no longer have a Reyes on the roster?
Or is this in reference to the fact that Al is not YET on the roster?
Oh… and if they send Cancel or Smith down, its only for a week. September call-ups will bring that person back. And since they played in games prior to September 1st, they are eligible for post-season rosters. (I think)
New Reyes is a Minor Leaguer for now. Hence the strikethrough.
