In the morning, Alex, Tony, Laura and I decided to take a day trip out to Laguna de Apoyo, a large volcanic lake half an hour outside of Granada. We hopped into a cab and made our way to The Monkey Hut, a hostel (loosely affiliated with The Bearded Monkey) right on the lake. They offer free usage of inner tubes and kayaks, and of course the lakeside lounge chairs.
We stayed around for most of the day, taking in the beautiful surroundings. We partied with a handful of other travelers and ended up drinking rum and coke on a floating dock in the middle of the lake until the sun set.
After the cab ride back (which included a loud, slightly intoxicated singalong to Bohemian Rhapsody) and some quick showers we continued the partying onto the streets of Granada. Just past the Christian Rock concert in parque central, there’s a main street with loads of bars and restaurants.
We called it a night around midnight. We’re all looking to head to Ometepe in the morning.
Hope you are enjoying!! Photos I’ve seen online of Ometepe look like it’s amazing!!
I am LOVING the names of all the hostels. So very cool.
